Charles captures your network traffic only when you have recording enabled in Charles. Charles captures and stores your captured data on your computer. You can choose to save or export that data from Charles, and then to share that data. Charles will not share your data, or metadata about your data, except by these means. Note that your data may be transferred off your computer by a backup process. The developers of Charles do not have access to your data.
Charles communicates periodically with a server controlled by the developers of Charles to check for version updates. This communication includes your operating system type and version, as well as version information about Charles itself. The received data is kept in aggregate with no personally identifying information.
