Recording Settings

Configures the recording behaviour of Charles.

Recording Size Limits

When Charles records, all of the request and response headers and bodies are stored in memory. This can result in quickly running out of memory if you download large files. Therefore the size limits control the maximum sizes that are recorded by Charles. It does not affect your Internet browsing in any way – just what is recorded in Charles.

You can set different size limits for the following response types:

  • HTML
  • Text
  • Images
  • Binary

You can also set a size limit for:

  • POST request data

The goal with the recording size limits is not to set them too high that you fill up your available memory, and not to set them too low so that you don’t miss recording information you may be interested in.
